About DAG

DEVIOCK ACTIVITIES GROUP is a voluntary organisation with its own committee constitution & policies. It was established in Autumn 2021, initially to promote the development of a Table Tennis session at the Zone when the Methodists would not allow the activity to come under its insurance.

The Table Tennis session (Wednesdays 6pm-7pm) was set up in October 2021 and has been run by Maggie Holden since then.

The Craft Café Committee was established in Spring 2022 by volunteers, Sue Webster, Jane Lockyer, Viv Parker (Chair) and Maggie Holden (Secretary) and has been running since then on Monday afternoons 2pm-4pm except for Bank Holidays & August £3. For further information about the Craft Café, please contact webstersue62@gmail.com.

Since then Art & Craft Workshops have been organised by volunteers and run alongside the Monday Craft Café sessions, on every 3rd Thursdays & Saturdays. Various grants have supported & developed these sessions over the years.

The Craft Café Committee has gradually expanded to include Trish Adams, Helen Miller (Treasurer), Sue Langford and Karen Nott (Bookings Secretary), with Sue Webster also taking the role of  Designated Safeguarding Lead.

In May 2023, Leanne Spencer Harper joined the Committee keen to provide School Holiday Activities for primary school pupils. Two years later, in 2025, Laura Chapman joined the Committee. Grant funding has been secured each year & is in place for 2026. Both Leanne & Laura have undertaken Safeguarding Training. Children must always be accompanied by a parent or carer.

In Autumn 2024, DAG received funding from Artswell to run a Music Project. A tutor was employed for one term to establish the Music Club which  meets on Wednesdays, 2pm- 3.30pm. Various instruments are played - including ukuleles, guitars, violin, a dulcimer -  and singing is encouraged. The group is informally led by Graham North with Viv Waldock attending as the DAG Committee representative.

DAG currently rents the Zone like all the other activities.
